Activations

Online and IRL demonstrations of our power

What is it?

Activations are online and IRL (in real life) demonstrations of our message, strength, and community.

Online activations prove the power of connection across the nation and world -- they showcase the influence that thousands of people can have, together.

IRL activations ground the movement in physical displays of our message. They make our movement impossible to ignore.

Our Petition

On March 8th, 2023 (International Women's Day), we launched our Change.org petition that called on then-Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and former President Biden to incorporate the advanced female crash test dummy into the New Car Assessment Program, and test it equally as the male.

Our Change.org Petition

On August 5th, 2023, we printed out the full petition with all 18,000+ signatures, and mailed it to President Biden, Secretary Buttigieg, and NHTSA Acting Administrator Ann Carlson.

And, on our petition's one- and two-year anniversaries, we partnered with Change.org to promote the petition to our combined 100,000+ followers on TikTok and Instagram.

Today, our petition has over 35,000 signatures.

Our Projection Project

On April 23rd, 2024, Drive US Forward partnered with renown public artist Robin Bell to project our message on the Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Projection on the Department of Transportation

With the help of our generous donors and supporters, we were able to project three separate messages on the building's facade: "Make Cars Safe for Women," "Gender Discrimination Kills," and "@DriveUSForward."

Our Call Out Campaign

In April and May 2023, we led an viral call out campaign on Instagram and TikTok. After sharing information on the auto industry's prior efforts to keep women's bodies out of car safety testing, we asked our audience to comment "why don't you test cars for women?" on content from Nissan, Ford, and Chrysler.

Our videos went viral. Over 10,000 individuals left comments holding three of the nation's largest car manufacturers accountable for their actions, and urging them to do better.

Eventually, Ford and others began deleting comments from their pages -- illustrating exactly how impactful this call out was.
